Wellness

Menopause can affect many aspects of well-being, including sleep, stress, mood, relationships, sexual health, recovery, and emotional health. Wellness means recognizing how these areas interact with physical health and making time to care for the whole person. Strategies such as improving sleep, managing stress, staying socially connected, practicing mindfulness, and making time for enjoyable activities can all contribute to healthier aging. Wellness isn't about perfection—it's about creating habits that help you feel and function your best.

1) Menopause and sleep
  • Aim for 7-9 hours nightly - crucial for hormone production

  • Keep a consistent sleep schedule - same bedtime and wake time daily

  • Create a cool, dark environment - 65-68°F ideal temperature

  • No screens 1 hour before bed - blue light disrupts melatonin

  • Limit caffeine after 2 PM - can interfere with sleep quality

2) Stress reduction techniques
  • Practice deep breathing - 5-10 minutes of focused breathing daily

  • Try meditation - even 5 minutes can help regulate cortisol

  • Spend time in nature - reduces stress hormones naturally

  • Practice gratitude - write down 3 things you're grateful for daily

  • Set boundaries - learn to say no to unnecessary stressors

3) Staying connected

Whether it's working with healthcare providers, joining support groups, or working with a coach who understands this transition, you don't have to navigate this alone!  Remember: Understanding where you are in this journey helps you make informed decisions about your health and well-being. You're not just surviving menopause - you're learning to thrive through it and beyond!
